I saw this as an old topic on a blog post today, when searching Google for porn for women. And it made me wonder, what romance books has the blog author been reading lately to think they are just softcore for women?

I admit. I went through a phase of reading what they label as “bodice rippers.” Not a lot of plot, but a lot of “does he like me, or doesn’t he” and finally detailed sexual encounters. (or some authors who will pull a veil over and not particularly describe the actual intercourse part, just the leading up to it part.)

Lately though, the romance novels I’m drawn to would not by any stretch of the imagination be called softcore porn. They are hardcore to the bone baby, and REALLY describe all the sex acts in detail. They also explore themes on paper that I couldn’t even put into a porn site.

The best example I have of this is LOVER UNBOUND by J.R. Ward which lead male character Vischous likes to be in charge and you get a glimpse into his abusive past, and his Dom lifestyle of today. These are not romance books for women looking for bodice rippers, as the brothers deal out death and destruction on a daily basis. But J.R. Ward is a genius at writing text that gets me hot and bothered, and the danger that surrounds the lead characters is all part of it.

Inspired by this, I’ve started to explore themes like this in my 3D artwork and erotic stories I write for my site 3D Fantasies for Women. Lately I’ve done a Victorian era woman attacked by a vampire and saved by a former lover who has been turned.
